Back to School!

For years, my mother would torment me by taking pictures of me all dressed up for my first day of school. You have no idea how much I hated this. Honestly, this is the main reason why I didn't go for my PhD. The two years of business school at Duke was so humiliating with my mother there to photograph the start of each year. Of course that's a partial exaggeration. So today, to make up for all the years I was tormented as a child, I figured I'd pass the buck and take pictures of Meri on her first day back to work. It was an emotional goodbye, but one that went fairly smoothly. Meri trusted me to the overnight shift and I passed with flying colors.

Unfortunately for Meri, there were two problems with her return to the office. First, it's Passover and she wasn't able to partake in the usual office lunch as heartily as she normally does. Second, gone are the days of elastic waistband pants so she couldn't pack as much cold pizza in for that reason as well. Rumor has it the firm is going to adopt "elastic waistband summer Fridays" starting Memorial Day. Then, she'll be prepared to really dig into those company lunches.

In the end, all went well with her return to the office and I'm looking forward to tonight's overnight shift again which will include an extra-special bonus session from 6am to 730am since Meri's leaving for DC first thing in the morning!
